Drill bits now run 3–150 mm in three shank types

2026-10-20

Straight, taper and threaded shanks cover the same 3–150 mm range. Shank 8 mm and 10 mm, 1/2″ G on request; working lengths 75 mm and 80–95 mm.

The change is at the small end. A 3 mm hole in appliance or instrument glass used to be a special order; it now sits in the standard range, next to the sizes up to 150 mm.

Shank type matters more than diameter when a bit will not fit. Straight shanks go into glass drilling machines and bench drills with a chuck; taper shanks seat on a Morse taper; threaded shanks screw onto the spindle of a CNC machine. All three run across the full diameter range, so the choice follows the machine, not the hole size.

Shank diameters are 8 mm and 10 mm, with 1/2″ G on request. Working lengths are 75 mm, or 80–95 mm for the longer reach. For a diameter between two stock sizes, or anything above 150 mm, send a drawing and we make to it.
