Glass Polishing Wheels & Compounds

Edging line polishing wheels and compounds that run after fine grinding and take off the last hundredths of a millimetre for an optical-grade edge.

Polishing is the last step of edging: it removes the fine marks left by the fine grinding wheel and brings the edge to a clear finish. This group covers edging line polishing wheels (the BD series in red, green and engraved, plus 10S, CE-3, X3000/X5000, X098 and SD001), ARBAX BK polishing wheels from Brazil, wool felt wheels and coating removal wheels for Low-E glass. The same BD bond is also used for stone and marble polishing.

Common outer diameters 100, 150 and 200 mm with a 22 mm bore and 15–30 mm thickness. Wool felt wheels use large bores (70, 105, 115 mm) and run with cerium oxide powder. Stone and marble work usually takes 100, 130 or 150 mm diameters with 12, 50 or 70 mm bores.

Questions buyers ask about these wheels

Which models are in the BD polishing wheel range?

The BD series comes in red, green and engraved, joined by 10S, CE-3, X3000/X5000, X098 and SD001 for finish levels from rough polishing to final polish.

Can your polishing wheels be used on stone or marble?

Yes. The same BD bond is used for stone and marble polishing, usually in 100, 130 or 150 mm diameters with 12, 50 or 70 mm bores and 35 or 40 mm thickness.

What causes haze after polishing?

Usually the fine grinding grit is too coarse or the step from roughing is too large. Check the grit step between roughing and fine grinding, and keep the cut of the polishing wheel to a minimum.
