Glass Rough Grinding Wheels

Rough grinding wheels for glass straight-line edgers, double edgers and beveling machines, in continuous, segmented and inner segmented rims.

Rough grinding is the first pass of glass edging and it sets the edge shape and the stock left for the wheels behind it. Four rim types cover this step: continuous rim for straight-line and beveling machines, full segmented and semi-segmented for heavy stock removal on double edgers and bevelers, and inner segmented wheels for station 2 of a double or straight-line edger, paired with a full segmented wheel at station 1 and a continuous wheel at station 3.

Questions buyers ask about these wheels

Continuous rim or full segmented?

Continuous (toothless) rims grind a finer pattern and suit roughing and medium passes on straight-line and beveling machines. Full segmented rims clear chips faster and remove more stock, so they suit heavy roughing on double edgers. Either way, keep a clear grit step to the fine grinding wheel behind it.

Can the diameter and bore be changed for my machine?

Yes. Common sizes are 130–200 mm outer diameter with 12, 22 or 50 mm bores; non-standard diameters, bores and working layers are made to drawing. Send the machine model and we check the fit before quoting.

What runs after a rough grinding wheel?

Fine grinding with resin wheels, then polishing. Leave enough stock for the fine wheel to clean up, but not so much that its life drops.
